Welcome to the 2016 XC Fantasy Draft! The draft will be held on November 2nd starting at 8:00 PM sharp!
This year we will be trying something a little different, housing the draft live on the blog for everyone to enjoy and anonymous competitors to participate in. As of the writing of this post we currently have 9 teams. Because each team will be picking 7 runners, I'd like to cap the draft at 10 teams. I think that's as high as we can realistically go. That being said, I will accept alternate entries who can participate if one of the 10 selected teams is missing from the draft at start time and not available to make their pick.
So here are the teams I currently have listed. Hopefully I haven't missed anyone. If are worried your team is missing from this list, contact me ASAP so I can throw you in the draft. I've used a random number generator to assign the draft order. Remember that this will be a snake draft.
1. Team Team
2. Forrest CRN's Team (Forrest has taken this final spot but has offered to switch out if someone else really wants in)
3. MightyMort
4. Team Shake n Bake
5. Ryan1220
6. Views from the Seven (this is etrain's team)
7. John Seena (Defending Champion)
8. The Avon Grove RedDevil
9. OutKickU
So just to re-outline the rules, I'll give you a quick overview. If you don't understand these rules, I suggest you ask quickly as I would like to move efficiently through the process on draft night.
- Each team makes seven picks, similar to a varsity cross country team. Picks will be made in the order above in snake draft format. This means that Team 1 will have the last pick in the first round and the first pick in the second round. Once a runner is drafted, no one else can pick this runner.
- Only runners in the AAA boys state championship can be drafted. Runners are scored based on there place in the state meet. For example, if you drafted Brian Iatarola last year and he finished 25th, he scores 25 points for your team. The places for your highest finishing five runners are added together to give yourself a team score, again similar to a varsity cross country team. The lowest score wins.
- To make your pick, post it up here in the comment section of this post. Please use the comment section only to make your picks until the draft is over so that everyone involved can keep track of who has been picked and when. Remember that the comment section will not update automatically, so you will have to refresh the page in order to see any new comments. I will do my best to also live tweet the draft on our account @TheRealTrain11, but I will be managing a lot of things so I may not completely follow through on that promise.
- Stay on top of your picks and try to keep things moving quickly. We have to make 70 picks so even if each pick only takes a minute, this will take over an hour. Be aware of the commitment and try your best to keep track of the order. For everyone's first pick, I will grant up to 4 minutes of time to make your pick once the draft begins. If you do not make a pick in that time, the first alternate team (if applicable) will get to take over your spot. After that, I will keep a timer of 2 minutes. If you do not pick in that time, you will be autodrafted a runner based on my top 50 predictions (best runner available). Consecutive autodrafts will also risk being removed from the draft and an alternate team taking your spot.
- My advice to you is to get in touch with me before the draft to get some type of direct messaging that will update automatically when picks are made. You also can then ask me questions during the draft about whose turn it is, which players have been taken and any rules that you have last minute questions about. I will do my best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but those who I have a direct line of communication with will definitely have an extra advantage with respect to timing.
- Last rule; have fun! This is just a fun little idea to bring some excitement to the predictions. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have the past few years.
Any last minute questions hit me up quickly! jarrettfelix1130@gmail.com or on twitter!
